Added to liqueurs, herbal syrups mulled wine, infusions, and liqueurs. Additionally, anise star pods are used to make tinctures and homemade mouthwashes. They have an eight-pointed star appearance. This fruit is produced by a tree in the Magnolia family that is native to China and Vietnam. The fruits are collected before they ripen and dry. The whole dried fruits can be cooked right away. Smaller amounts are advised. The anise star pod is a potent spice. The herb needs to be kept in a well-sealed container in a cool, dark environment. Since the tea is highly potent, only a small amount will be required. Possibly be consumed as a pill or extract as well.
