Partridgeberry has an extended history of use by Native American tribes for its healthful properties. Berry tea and infusions have been used by Native American women for centuries. Helpful for many maladies including menstrual irregularity, ovary congestion, and uterine spasms. Helpful as a uterine tonic by strengthening the uterine and pelvic muscles. Traditionally beneficial for labor prep. Also supportive for postpartum concerns such as prolapse, bleeding, and postpartum hemorrhage. Also called squaw vine, the herb can be decocted as tea, extracted, or prepared as a topical application.
Qualities: Cool, pungent
Precautions
Avoid for the first trimester of pregnancy. It is also noted by some texts to avoid use in pregnancy until the last 6 weeks. The uses are mostly traditional and recommended by practitioners of holistic medicine. There's no supporting research, but the anecdotal evidence is strong.
