*Uses:
The bark was traditionally utilized for its various healthful properties by First Nation people. Today, it is often infused as slippery elm tea and drunk for its mucilaginous properties. It is a soothing nutrative demulcent which is perfectly suited for sensitive or inflamed mucus membrane linings in the digestive system. Helpful in digestive issues. In cases of diarrhea it may soothe and astringe at the same time. Often used as a food when recovering from an illness or medical treatment as it is gentle and easily assimilated. Can be used externally as a soothing poultice. Also beneficial to assist with vaginal dryness.

Precautions
Slippery Elm should be taken with at least 250mL (8 oz) of liquid. Orally administered drugs should be taken one hour prior to or several hours after consumption of slippery elm. The mucilage may slow the absorption of orally administered drugs. We recommend that you consult with a qualified healthcare practitioner before using herbal products, particularly if you are pregnant, nursing, or on any medications.
